For Everything There Is a Season…

Empty Nest

If you’ve been following us on Facebook or Instagram, you might know that my young adult daughter, Nicole, was living with us in Puerto Rico while attending college online. She worked with us on our vacation rental property and with AmeriCorps in Culebra. Then, she moved to the main island with us to help remodel our house and start the process of turning our raw land into a farm. Last month, she decided to return to Texas to work and finish her degree in Agricultural Sciences.

She has been gone for a month, and I miss her presence daily, but I am super proud of her bravery, tenacity, and grit. I am also beyond thankful for the ability to message throughout the day. She has gone plant shopping for me multiple times and is always available to bounce ideas off of. That’s one of the toughest parts of parenting for me. You pour insane amounts of time, energy, love, worry, frustration, and prayer into these children, but if you do your job well (yes, many other factors come into play), they grow up and leave the nest. I couldn’t be more proud of who Nicole is and where she is today, and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings for her as she soars to great heights.

But my nest is still empty…or is it?

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
